  • Jake from State Farm ends up on the Severed Floor in silly ad crossover

Sorry, but "Jake from State Farm" will always be Jake Stone, not Kevin Miles.

Give me an ad with Jake Stone on the severed floor and THEN we'll talk.

  • Party's over: Apple tries to shrink costs of Apple TV+ productions

At the least, if you end a season with a cliffhanger, put out one or two more episode to allow for the story to be completed properly.

Personally, I think Apple has done better than most in this regard, but at the same time, recent history shows otherwise.

If I can no longer trust that Apple won't finish out their series, I have no reason to watch and get "invested." Constellation certainly wasn't great, but again, we never would have started watching it knowing it was going to be discontinued. If there was some sort of conclusion on the docket, I'd be fine with it - even if it wasn't somehow one of the greatest conclusions to a series ever...

With all the news about budgets, it's clear that Foundation certainly has the potential to REALLY upset me in that regard.

Also, since people have mentioned being "outliers," I'll just add that I'm also eagerly awaiting a conclusion to Invasion.

  • Apple adds HomePod, AirPods to the 'vintage products' list

It would seem the OG HomePods will receive the OS 18 update(s) and that's it.

From a HomeKit perspective that might be OK simply because it'll allow a preferred hub without issue. (Not that it wouldn't have been as the hub seems to always select something running the latest update.)

Honestly though, I have no issues with my 3x OG HomePods. OK, sure, Sometimes Siri is a pain in the butt. And on occasion I have to reboot or remove/re-add them to HomeKit (the same can be said for my Mini's.)

All in all though, I cannot see a reason to abandon them at any point in the near future.

I've been completely satisfied with all 3 of them.

Hopefully Apple (based on their track record, they should) will leave them in a state where they continue to function as well as they do right now once they stop providing updates. If they do that, I'll have zero issues recommending (and probably purchasing) the next gen HomePods at some point.

  • Support for more smart home accessories arriving in iOS 17.6

My Netatmo indoor sensor already reports CO2 levels (aka "hey Siri, what's the carbon dioxide level in here?") However the outdoor sensor's air quality readings still don't come into HK. So it's good to see some progress there.

What I'd really like to see is for Apple to finally acknowledge (and support) outdoor vs indoor sensors. In other words, if I've got an outdoor temperature sensor, I don't want it reporting that (those) temperature when showing me the range of indoor temperatures in the home.
