  • Trump's 25% smartphone tariff starts just in time for the iPhone 17

In less than a week, Apple has proved to be extremely vulnerable.

Its supply chain is under attack by tariff's.
Its flagship product is under attack by its former star employee.
Its AI is nowhere to be found.

Apple is under enormous pressure and let's see how M. Cook can address it.
Very likely the same way he has addressed Apple's many and varied previous challenges. It's not like such problems are new ... indeed Cook must be experiencing a lot of deja vu since he last had to deal with Chump eight years ago.

Cook's not new at this. You might recall he was COO before he became CEO. That's why Apple's logistics are so incredibly good.

The biggest problem Apple -- and the world -- faces right now is a delusional senile old man and his enablers in Congress who seriously believes you can build a world-class iPhone manufacturing plant and the attendant logistical infrastructure (because iPhones are clearly made in ONE plant, right?) as fast as you can, let's say, bankrupt a casino.

  • Trump is too busy for his own tariff negotiations, so will dictate terms instead

While this certainly sounds like something Trump would do, what is the source for this story? This should be big news but I'm seeing nothing about it on CNBC, WSJ, Bloomberg or any other business news site.
Reading the article will help you find the source. Those blue words are links. Here's the specific link from the AI article to the Bloomberg report you apparently missed:

  • Epic resubmits 'Fortnite' to the App Store for review, as its initial request seemingly ig...

Epic is like a high school boy trying to get a girl to like him. All sweet at first, then when that doesn’t work he gets rage-y and kinda threatening, then when that doesn’t work he begs forgiveness and begs for the smallest amount of attention.

  • iPhone 17 Slim model is barely thick enough for its own buttons

I certainly "get" the appeal of a lighter/thinner iPhone, but I'm definitely not the target market. The current iPhone weighs (to me) next to nothing in my pants pocket or jacket pocket, but makes available a shockingly great camera system (I have a 16 Pro) that this future iPhone will mostly lack, though I'm sure the 2-in-1 camera Apple recently developed for the 16e will be similar to what's used in any forthcoming "thinner" iPhone.

That model, when it appears, will still take great pics -- of the owner and their friends. Good luck with zoom beyond 2x or so. These days, smartphones are used for on-the-go social messaging, selfies, and tracking the day (in terms of calendar, exercise, appointments etc). with this future, thinner iPhone, Apple is just recognizing that market and catering to it -- there's no plans to retire the main and Pro iPhone lines, since the weight of those devices is also a non-issue for their audiences.

The cynic in me also thinks that Apple can increase the profitability of the iPhone by introducing a model that is far more susceptible to damage by dropping. :)

  • Apple's Home Hub pushed back to 2026 after delayed Siri improvements

I don't think you're wrong about that, Eightzero.

I and other people I happen to know have held off on investing much in "smart home" stuff until Apple unveils a system of its own to control devices from it and other brands ... and so far, a lot of smart home stuff has been HomeKit compatible, setting the stage for that home hub.

I just hope Apple will update the full-size HomePods to have more HomeKit smarts -- that's when I'll replace the OG ones that I use with my Apple TV for my current setup, which offers terrific stereo/Atmos sound.

Sure a 5.1 or 7.1 surround setup would undoubtedly be even better, but my apartment neighbours would probably complain every time I watched a war movie, so ... nope for now.
