Hey everyone on appleinsider,

Looking to get into a new science fiction series and could use some fresh recommendations from fellow fans. I've pretty much exhausted the big names on Netflix and Prime Video, and I'm craving something with a compelling original story, good character development, and impressive visuals if possible – something that really makes you think or transports you to another world.

It could be anything from epic space operas to more grounded, near-future thrillers or mysteries. What are some of the standout Sci-Fi shows you've watched recently (say, from the last year or two) on any streaming service that you'd genuinely recommend? Trying to find that next great binge-watch!

Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!

Obviously can't go wrong with classics, but of course if you're on AppleInsider, you should think about some of the space epics on Apple TV+.

For All Mankind is an excellent series that basically could be considered a prequel to any series involving Earthlings traveling deep space. It does really well with the alt-history stuff and some of their predictions are already becoming real news, like all the talk of a moon base starting again recently.

I know Foundation is controversial among fans of the books, but I've found it to be beautiful and enjoyable, if a bit long winded. The story and character development accelerate in season 2.

Silo is perfect post-apocalyptic television. Extrapolations is a Dark Mirror-like drama, but instead of discussing how technology ruins man, it is a discussion of the impending climate crisis. Even See was a good watch, but season one was a bit rough as it was one of Apple's first shows.

Some of my favorite movies: Fifth Element, AI: Artificial Intelligence, The Matrix, and Blade runner

I’ll 2nd Andor as being one of the best SciFi series.

    Limited series:
Sense8 - hive mind, telepathy sci-fi. My favorite series
Andor - best Star Wars series
Ahsoka - 2nd best Disney+ Star Wars series, imo
    Severance - conspiracy sci-fi?
    The Nevers - Victorian sci-fi
The Expanse - attempt at hard sci-fi
Chernobyl - not sci-fi, but science
    V - invasion sci-fi

    Actual series:
Farscape - enjoy the mayhem. Just plain fun.
Space: Above and Beyond - small budget military sci-fi
Tom Baker Doctor Who - the best Doctor
    Babylon 5 - epic sci-fi attempt
